Foodie Favorites: March 2018
For some time now I’ve thought about doing a little monthly roundup of recipes from other bloggers that we’ve made and loved. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I like to share what’s on my plate from day to day, and often that involves a little shout out to another blogger. As much as I love to experiment in the kitchen, I also enjoy benefiting from the successes of other cooks, so here’s a little highlights reel to give you a taste (yes, pun intended) of our favorites from the month of March. I’ll give you links in the titles so you can check out the recipes on the other blogs and try them for yourselves! (P. S. I’m not making any money from promoting these recipes. Oliver and I genuinely loved them so much that we think you should be made aware of them.)
Minimalist Baker’s Chana Masala
We’ve been trying a lot more Indian recipes around here lately, and I’m not quite to the point where I’m ready to venture into coming up with my own recipes. We had chana masala while we were out with some friends at their favorite Indian restaurant a few weeks ago, and I knew I wanted to find a recipe to make it at home. Dana at Minimalist Baker cooks the most beautiful and colorful simple vegan eats, and this spicy chickpea recipe was a definitely a winner.
Tex Mex Breakfast Skillet from The Toasted Pinenut
This one is labelled as a breakfast skillet, but I’m pretty sure we had it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oliver loved the sausage. I loved the sweet potatoes and veggies. Best of both worlds, y’all. Go check it out. My one regret is that I didn’t get a photo of it while it was still in the skillet.
Carrot Orecchiette from Cooking Light Magazine
Are you seeing a trend here? I like recipes that involve throwing cilantro all over the place. This one is even better because it involves throwing cilantro and chives and dill all over the place. We looooooved this recipe, especially because it was such a different combination of flavors than I usually think to throw together.
Chocolate Marbled Banana Bread by Bakerella
This last one is a serious treat. Honestly, there’s so much chocolate in there that you almost forget you’re eating banana bread. It tastes every bit as good as it looks. I brought it to church to share before Wednesday night worship a few weeks ago, and when I walked in the week after, I was asked if I’d brought another loaf of it.
I’ll try to write one of these up at the end of each month to share some love from other blogs. Follow me on Pinterest if you’d like to keep up with a little daily dose of recipe inspiration!

Having just got back from India a week ago today, the Chana Masala recipe is one that I’ll be making ASAP. I miss the vibrant flavours of Indian dishes already!

I looove chana masala and have a great slow cooker recipe for it! I’m going to look at the orichette recipe too, because anything with pasta is good in my book 😉
Savannah
Oohhh I bet that chana would be delicious in the slow cooker!! Lots of time to let the flavor develop!

Since my cooking skills are limited, I may need to post similar stories on my blog! Thanks for the idea.

I always do recipes, but this is the first time I’ve done a post like this! I loved cheering on a few other bloggers!

i can’t wait to make these!! I love the veggie options (or that you can make these without meat and still be packed full of flavor!!) thank you!
Savannah
Yes! I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I do try to keep about half of my main dinner recipes each week meatless. Honestly, it’s cheaper that way and it allows us to get in a better variety of proteins!
Helen

Savannah
